Preserved Blueberries in Jars

Ingredients

4 cups fresh blueberries

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 cup water

1/2 cup sugar (optional)

Sterilized glass jars with lids

Instructions

Wash the blueberries thoroughly and remove any damaged berries.

Sterilize the jars and lids by boiling them in water for 10 minutes.

In a saucepan, combine the water, sugar, and lemon juice. Heat until the sugar dissolves completely.

Fill each jar with fresh blueberries, leaving about 1/2 inch (1 cm) of headspace.

Pour the warm syrup over the blueberries until they are fully covered.

Remove any air bubbles and wipe the jar rims clean.

Seal the jars tightly with the lids.

Process the jars in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes.

Remove the jars and let them cool completely.

Store in a cool, dark place for up to one year.

Serving Suggestions

Add to yogurt or oatmeal.

Use as a topping for pancakes or waffles.

Mix into smoothies.

Use in pies, muffins, and desserts.
